West Coast Sassy Cats holds as its obligation and responsibility:
-
To monitor and maintain the psychological and physical health of the cat;
-
To provide the best skin and coat care for the cat, including the best grooming services and products;
-
To support owners in achieving optimal grooming and care, to ensure the overall well-being of the cat.
Every effort will be made to minimize accidents, illness or injuries, but there are risks inherent in the handling, restraint, grooming, bathing, blow drying, shaving, and nail trimming of cats, including risk of serious injury or even death. Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats cannot be held liable for any illness, accident, injury, or death or any other unforeseen harms incurred at any time during the handling and grooming process.
Professional grooming, which entails bathing and blow drying, may uncover underlying medical issues. These will be brought to the attention of the owner, who will be advised to seek veterinary attention for those issues. Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats cannot be held liable for any discovered medical conditions.
Any pre-existing medical conditions must be brought to the attention of Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats. Cats with pre-existing medical conditions will be groomed solely at the owner’s risk. Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats cannot be held liable for any pre-existing medical conditions.
If the cat has reached the age of 12, and has not been examined by a veterinarian in the last 12 months, underlying disease processes may be present, and there may be increased risk of accident, illness, injury or death. Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats will make every effort to prevent hazards, but in the event of any illness, accident, injury, or death or any other unforeseen harms, Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats cannot be held liable.
Some cats and owners may enter into a “latchkey” arrangement with Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats, whereby the owner may not be present during grooming. If the cat has a critical medical incident during the grooming appointment, transportation of the cat to a veterinary facility with simultaneous medical attention may not be possible. Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats will make every effort to contact the owner, provide medical attention to the cat, and provide expedient transportation of the cat to the nearest appropriate veterinary clinic. In the event of unforeseen harms, Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats cannot be held liable.
If a cat becomes very fractious or difficult to handle when approached for grooming or during grooming, or the cat cannot be safely approached, contained, or groomed, without causing undue stress for the cat and owner, and possible injury to the groomer, the groom will be stopped by Sally Staples, CFMG and West Coast Sassy Cats, and the cat will be referred to a vet for grooming under anesthesia. Charges for services rendered to that point will be the responsibility of the owner, to be paid in full by the end of the appointment.
If the owner becomes stressed or distressed by the grooming process, and requests that grooming be ceased and terminated, the owner or agent for the owner will be responsible for payment of any and all grooming procedures completed to that point, AS WELL AS all procedures requested and booked by the owner for that appointment.
Photographs taken of the cat during the grooming appointment may be posted on the West Coast Sassy Cats website, identified only by the cat’s name and owner’s last initial.
